My name is Annemie Gritti-Swerts.

• My  three year, at the Academy of Arts in Antwerp- Belgium,  created in me the desire to work in ceramics.
  The combination of that desire along whith my love of drawing and painting plants and medicinal herbs resulted in my personal style, that the thrown and painted pottery, being born. 

• I finished  school in 1971 and began to create pots using the wheel wheel.

By myself, on a blue Mobylette, I drove down to the South of France (1200 Km)

During this year-long journey, I worked in several pottery studios.                                                          

• In the South of France, I set up a ceramics studio under the auspices of an association. Here, for seven  years, I thaught courses  in pottery and pottery training.

In the classes, I introduce various techniques of working with clay. Students will have the opportunity of developing their strengths and discovering their preferences

Working in small groups is very stimulating and enriching for everybody.

• I was a practising artist and craftperson for 12 years, and at the same time, I was teaching ceramics.

Working whith elementary and college students, as well as students with disabilities has taught me a great deal. All of these students, without exeption, were able to overcome their limitations and learn to make pots on the wheel.

In ceramic Arts courses, we learn to analyze our smallest gestures; this helps to develop confidence and the ability to create what we envisage - beautiful pots!
